I wasn't "crying," Coonhound. I was trying to move away from the mutual antagonism and share with you on a more personal level SEVERAL of the reasons why this financial thing came to a head with me last night and I posted what I did. But you pi*sed all over that.
For the record, the company didn't raise my APR because of a late payment. But it's outrageous that they would have done it had I not appealed. And it's outrageous that they're screwing (is THAT acceptable?) everybody, whether they've paid late or not and when they're still reaping huge gains from their already usurious APR's and giving their execs undeservedly huge bonuses by announcing that they'll be almost doubling their APR at the worst possible time for most people starting next month.
In my considered opinion, THAT is figurative RAPE.

Then I read about mostly Republicans watering down a bill in Congress to give the government more regulatory power over the financial "industry" in order to protect consumers from shady lending practices. Then I hear about Wall Street bailout firms continuing to give out huge bonuses and send high paid lobbyists to Washington to dissuade Congress from enacting laws against this. And then I read the article that I quoted from last night, and, yes, I felt furious and DID see what's going on in the financial sector as a kind of "rape" of the American people every bit as destructive to society overall if not far more so than the actions of a comparatively small number of pedophiles and other sex offenders.So, be "taken back" with me all you want, but maybe you should be more taken back with the culture of greed that has utterly taken over our society and which threatens to destroy us as a nation as well as our individual souls."

I say it because it's true. The economic problems we're having, occasioned in large part by greed and immoral if not unlawful expressions of it, almost brought this country to its knees and may still do do. It has impacted virtually everyone, but the obscenely wealthiest of the wealthy, in unpleasant ways, and some people, their families, and entire communities have been devastated by it.
This is NOT to say that sex crimes against adults and children don't also cause terrible, terrible harm. As I said before, all of these things cause terrible harm. But it's not at all preposterous to say that what's gone on in the financial sector has been at least as destructive in terms of the breadth and depth of its impact on society as child sexual abuse and sex crimes in general have been. And your calling it "twisted" for me to say this doesn't alter the truth of it.

But if the woman in question or a loved one has been victimized in some horrendous way by a crime, I would never say and have never said, "How dare you feel this way!" or that she's a Christian hypocrite. On the other hand, if someone has not been victimized in this way, if they are Christian, and if they espouse hatred for criminals and the desire to see them treated in a manner that I see as unjust, I may very well point out to them in a FORUM such as this (as opposed to a face-to-face encounter) that they are espousing injustice and that their feelings or unabashed presentation of them conflict with their Christian faith.
