Religion and personal beliefs are just that, personal.
I have never in my life ever had anyone ask me my religion or tried to engage in conversation about it.

But when I see innocent starving people, being hurt by wicked evil forces, especially those given chance after chance after chance to follow common decent civilized rules, I see Satan. The world has become as ugly as it can become with wicked people like Gariddo running lose.
We have Sunny/Heather here complaining that we as Americans who don't care, we have nags here believing we should spend our hearts and money on these wicked people. Like I said before, I do not feel that I am a hypocrite. I help so many people, when I cannot feed my kids. I always do right by everyone. I could go bankrupt and not owe another person a dime, but God says pay your debts. The Bible tells me to be productive. I am.
But at the same time, I have not always been a Christian. I have been jaded over my life time, which I appreciate, because in the living situation I am in, I would not survive for a week in this neighborhood if I walked around here like a Monk.

My dear Boogieman. I'd like to make a little suggestion. The next time you're tempted to say, "Wicked people," say something like, "Children of God who have been acting wickedly" instead. I know, it may seem like you're using a lot of extra words to say something with such a vanishingly small difference in meaning, but if you try it, you might just find it making a huge, huge difference in your heart and in the hearts of those you relate to.

If you do not believe that is NonChristian, then do not worry about what others believe. This blog is special because there are so many different opinions and beliefs here. I really do not see anyone here as really hating on another because they have different opinions. What I do question is THE VERSION of Christianity that you have been taught and which you choose to practice and has been clearly displayed in many of your comments.
The version of Christianity that I was brought up with is vastly different to that you have been displaying, hence my comment that I wouldn’t want to join your club.
Christianity from my experience would certainly not agree with some of your beliefs regarding how our other fellow human-bings should be treated.
You must realise that there are many different interpretations of Christianity.
Just look at the number of different translations of the Bible alone.
I can’t see why any religion cannot be open to question or scrutiny, by believers and non-believers, but not to question the individuals right to practice what they believe, but the actual beliefs that religion teaches. It needs to be if any religion is to stand the test of time.
I have only been asking why you believe as you do on the subjects of how our fellow members of the human race should be treated and why you agree with capital punishment. You don’t have to answer, but you seem to take personal objection to this, as if I am some version of Satan or the anti-Christ.

It doesn't seem to me that he did such a good job of hiding her when he took her and their daughters to U.C. Berkeley that day to distribute crazy religious literature, alerting campus security and leading to his arrest. And who knows how many other similar reckless things he did over the years?
I think he "realized" intellectually that society and the law considered his actions wrong, but I doubt that he came even close to ever having a normal person's "gut" realization of the grievous harm he was doing, or he could have never done what he did in the first place.

Go for it, Tara. :-) Maybe your religion, if you have one, is "the way, the truth, and the life" or something equally transfiguring and wonderful, even if your famous countryman Richard Dawkins probably wouldn't think so.
I, for one, love to discuss religion, and, if it's done with civility and in the right place, like online where people don't have to "listen" to you if they don't want to, I see nothing wrong with it.

Tara, I don't think ANY kind of Christianity worthy of the name would endorse some of the views and conduct we've seen manifested here by people who profess to be Christians or lovers of the Lord. In fact, I think some of what we've seen expressed in the name of God insults God and Christianity more than any substantive questioning of the existence of God or the validity of Christian teachings ever could.
I have long maintained that the greatest enemies of Christianity are not so-called "bashers" or detractors but hypocritical Christians, especially when they try to rationalize or excuse their behavior as "human imperfection" instead of standing up like a good Christian should, contritely admitting one's wrongdoing, and asking forgiveness. And what's even worse are the hypocrites who actually DEFEND their hypocrisy as Christian virtue.

I mused about this blog a lot on my way to and from work today. I am having a profound experience here. I have been especially enthralled by the on-going debate between Denise and Nagarjuna. These two personalities loom large for me (and not just because of their sizeable bandwidths). I have come to view each of them as teaching the same message, a message of love and acceptance (albeit with very different styles and ways of being in this world). Nagarjuna gives the reasons; Denise puts those reasons into action. (And please excuse me, N and D: I know I take great poetic license with this description and that both of you are far more complex than what I narrowly focus on here.) When Denise offered Boogie a place to stay in Peru, I took her at face value; here is a person who might quite literally offer you the shirt off her back. And Nagarjuna dazzles with his insights and his eloquence. I am affected. I am inspired. I have more hope about wrestling with my own demons. And I cannot imagine this new hope without the input of both of you. It has been a powerful yin-yang experience.
I know I am leaving out a lot of people, and I know that everyone else has also contributed. I’m grateful for all the perspectives, and for the fascinating pushing and pulling of the ideas. Thank you to all who have posted on this blog. You have all added much to the discussion, each in your own way.

Report: Jaycee Dugard says her children were not abused

According to media reports, kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard has told investigators that Phillip Garrido did not sexually molest the two daughters he fathered with Dugard.
In their Sunday column in the San Francisco Chronicle, Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross quote an unnamed law enforcement source as saying rape and kidnap suspect Garrido "didn't touch her kids."
It was the behavior of the girls, ages 15 and 11, that first tipped off University of California, Berkeley, police that something was amiss. The girls accompanied Garrido to the campus security office where he was inquiring about a permit to pass out literature.
Dugard, 29, gave birth to the girls in her teens, and both Garridos have been charged with rape.
According to Matier and Ross, Dugard also told authorities that Phillip Garrido hadn't approached her sexually "in years."

When so many know he will not get the sentence he deserves Dr. Webb, so many would and do obvious feel the way you do. As proven here and in other public posts to articles around the world. If this is the way the public feels, you can be sure Girrado will not see freedom again, one way or the other, he'll know the world's disgust and hatred of him and his kind. He will feel the punishment in no uncertain terms. I have never seen anyone more hated since Dahmer, and there were plenty of "blogs" to attest to these same wishes/depictions by the public on that demon as well.

Was a narcotics detective, got caught up in CIA, found the CIA was dealing in billions of dollars worth of drugs. You probably know what I am talking about. California's highest kidnapping sentence is the 11 years and had to be what that reporter was referring to (as a lone charge). That is a pretty rotten law and hard to believe. He could get less, but under the circumstances, there is no doubt a jury will give him the full eleven. I'll tell you about the rape time in a bit. It is not even as much, but don't have time to explain right now.
