Well, I'm not sure I'd go quite that far, especially given some of the most recent developments, :-) but I've definitely acted like a self-righteous jerk at times. And I probably will again somewhere, sometime. But I'd like to think I'm at least a little less likely to do it in the future as a result of the mistakes I've made in the recent past, and I suspect that you and many of the rest of us have learned our own lessons from the recent past.
So, I'd just say remember the past but embrace the present and proceed from there as best we can.

seriously James it was very interesting I urge every person to read this book watch this movie and seriously take a look at this.. I was astounded yesterday and consumed.. I ordered the book the Franklin Scandal by Nick Bryant yesterday I listened to countless interviews and watched countless things on this yesterday.. I was blown away.

Seriously though I wonder now why sentences are not longer ect. and if in certain states including Iowa it would be very interesting to look into their child predator sentencing's. As well as every other state and judges that give lesser sentences for their crimes id be interested in their involvement in this ring.
James, I guess you haven't been reading all the comments here. That's certainly understandable, given the incredible number of them that there are, But I HAVE said in the past and I'll say again now for your benefit that I fully acknowledge that I've made many mistakes in the way I've questioned and criticized people, including Christians. for some of the things they've said here about the Garridos and other matters. And, yes, this all began with some of my earliest comments, although I recently went back and reread many of them and do not find them to be as bad as you imply. They became increasingly confrontational in response to the increasing acerbity of the reactions I received, including Teresa's flat out false accusations that I was a pedophile.
I still believe that the opinions I've expressed about the blamelessly pathological nature of Garrido's actions, the incompatibility of Christianity with the hatred and sadistic vindictiveness self-professed Christians were openly and even gleefully expressing here, the dubious aspects of Christian teachings, and so and so forth were valid, and I think I provided strong arguments in favor of many if not all of those opinions. But I wholeheartedly agree with you that I could have done a far better job of expressing those opinions in a less alienatingly obstreperous manner.
However, nothing I've said or done here begins to justify people unequivocally and repeatedly falsely accusing me of being a pedophile and a criminal hacker, or calling me all the other ugly names they have, or posting the same falsehoods about me and distortions of my messages hundreds of times in canned messages. That was not called for and is, in my opinion, acting like a "wacked out fool."
Now please notice that I said, "ACTING like a wacked out fool." I do not accuse anyone of BEING a wacked out fool. The difference between the former and the latter is that in the latter case, one's nature is stupid and crazy; therefore, one must always act that way. But in the former case, one can act foolish and crazy, perhaps because one is upset or having a bad hair day or whatever, without actually being stupid or crazy. I've had my spells here where I've acted pretty foolish and maybe even a little crazy when I've gotten upset or a little punch drunk from all the confrontation. But I've been able to recover from that and do what I'm doing with you now: engage with people in substantive and respectful discussion without acrimony.
I hope that we'll all be able to do a lot more of this from here on in. Virtally all of us who have spent much time here have made our share of mistakes. But lets stop holding them against each other and support each others' efforts to rise above them, beginning here and now. And let's let Lao Tzu's wonderfully wise words about self-mastery be our guiding inspiration.

I agree with you the thing here is that these people have forgotten who they have sworn an OATH too! I stress an OATH because that is plain and simple what it is they have forgotten they have sworn in OATH to the PEOPLE and the CONSTITUTION of the USA and to uphold that, and the American people just as much have forgotten the same thing they didnt swear in OATH to a politician that is what happened in Germany with Hitler. I read some about noreen gosch and her son. I primarily looked over the site she has dedicated to him.
I did briefly scim through some other sights and read some about the franklin cover up. (My time is limited today and through next week)
The only thing I have to comment on it is I am really sad to know that boy was kidnapped and the investigation was botched in many ways. I do remember hearing john walsh discussing this case in the past, but it didn't dawn on me until I googled it.
Whether this is all a hoax or true it is just very sick for me to think about it. Really, it is.

I would never do it myself, but I can understand someone else doing it if he or she is determined to jettison the "baggage" of previous comments under an old ID and start fresh with a new and hopefully better mindset and approach under a new or seldom used identity. In my case it was not to "abandon" my previous comments, rather a case of trying to avoid the "garbage" being thrown at you and I was getting the fallout.

Is there a rule forbidding friendly conversation in the absence of substantive discussion? Who have I or anyone else backstabbed? I haven't seen anyone being derisive of anyone since this morning. And I see no equivalence between arguing against hating and torturing criminals and bemusedly discussing people posting here under more than one ID. I'm not certain that anyone except Lucy has posted here under other ID's, I only, alebit strongly, suspect it. I did not accuse anybody this afternoon of doing it nor did I criticize anybody for doing it if they did it, and I merely said that I could understand somebody doing it IF they wanted to start anew. I was bashing no one and insulting no one. If anything, I could be said to have been encouraging certain individuals who shall go nameless to put the past behind them, come back out here under a new ID, and take a new and more amicable tack.
